Here in coastal southern California we escaped the extremes and experienced a month of "June Gloom" that seemed more pronounced than in recent years. A stationary high-pressure system was anchored off the coast of British Columbia, Canada which forced the jet stream south and across California, ushering Pacific storms south and across California. Temperatures on average were cooler with the mean temperature being significantly lower than it was in April even. (May mean: 16.0°C / 60.8°F Apr mean: 17.5°C / 63.5°F) Rain fell on four days, for a total accumulation of 16.76mm / 0.66in for the month, bringing the rain-year (Oct-Sep) total to 483.64mm / 19.04in!
