Precipitation Stats for November 2018 as recorded by my AcuRite Pro weather station at Princeton Townhomes, University Town Center, Irvine, California


Highlights:

More rain! I always welcome the rain her in arid southern California where we are reminded on a daily basis how much all god's creatures rely on rain to make the plants grow, to feed the rabbits, to feed the bobcats, to feed the coyotes, to feed the mountain lions... Not to mention all the birds that rely on the flowering and seeding of the plants.

Highest daily precipitation accumulation: 30.7 mm (1.21 in) on 11/29/2018
Total accumulation for November: 40.6 mm (1.6 in)
Total accumulation current "rain year": 61.4 mm (2.42 in)

Note: California calculates its rain year not on a calendar year basis, but starting October 1st through September 30th of the following year to coincide with the seasonality of rainfall which typically falls between the months of October through April.

Weather Statistics for Princeton Townhomes, University Center, Irvine, California May 2019 May 2019 continued the unusual weather patterns for this winter and spring in Irvine. A stationary high-pressure system was anchored off the coast of British Columbia, Canada which forced the jet stream south and across California, ushering Pacific storms south and across California. Temperatures on average were cooler with the mean temperature being significantly lower than it was in April even. (May mean: 16.0°C / 60.8°F Apr mean: 17.5°C / 63.5°F) Rain fell on four days, for a total accumulation of 16.76mm / 0.66in for the month, bringing the rain-year (Oct-Sep) total to 483.64mm / 19.04in!
